When it comes to making homemade pizza I went through a phase of trying a dozen different types of flour, different pizza pans, pizza stones, etc in attempts to make the most perfect pizza. In the end, a lot of it really came down to the dough itself rather than the different flours or kitchen tools, or even the toppings that were being used.
Here is the recipe I finally decided on, which makes enough dough for one large 12-inch pizza.
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon organic cane sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 envelope of instant dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon Himalayan sea salt
- 1 cup water, 110°F
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
The steps for creating the dough as you can imagine are not overly complicated whatsoever.
- Combine flour, sugar, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, dry yeast, sea salt, and olive oil in a mixing bowl. I usually mix all the ingredients together with a fork once all are added to the bowl.
- Add the water and begin mixing the ingredients with your hands forming a ball. If the dough is still too sticky sprinkle in additional flour as needed.
- Once you have formed a ball with the dough, place it in a bowl covering it with plastic wrap. Place in the fridge and allow at least 1hr for the dough to rise.
That’s it! Once the dough has risen you can pull it from the fridge and get to work crafting your homemade pizza.
